Flash News – MechWarrior 5 problems?
by Cosmo on Sep.04, 2009, under Gaming News
IGN got a cease and desist order from the makers of Robotech/Macross. IGN is supposed to drop all videos of MechWarrior 5. They’re collaborating with Smith And Tinker and set out emails trying to figure out what the problematic element is.
If you don’t know, the MechWarrior license comes from Battletech which in turn, took some creative privileges with Robotech’s material. While there are some disputes about this in the Battletech boardgame realm in relation to certain models, i’m really uncertain as to what is the problem with the videos.
This can be a huge problem for MechWarrior 5, or just a small hitch. I seriously hope it’s the latter, as God knows i’ve giggled like a little girl when MW5 was announced. The MechWarrior community deserves a sequel to the franchise.
UPDATE: It seems it was about the Warhammer Mech, looking just a tiny bit like the Tomahawk Destroid from Macross. I think this will blow over easily.
