For today we’ve got a new L4D2 campaign unveil, some new Dragon Age Origins trailers, a launch date for Torchlight, the beta for Star Trek Online and some hitches in the road for Mechwarrior.

L4D2 third campaign unveiled… Dark Carnival

Continuing in the long line of corny movie-poster style, Valve greets us with “You must be this tall… TO DIE!” on the Dark Carnival campaign loading screen . The new screenshots look good, and to be entirely honest, i think i might buy it, no matter the criticisms thrown at it due to the nature of it’s development.

Sorry, i just couldn’t make a straight face while writing that.

If we just got a trickle of videos until now about Bioware’s, upcoming, Baulder’s Gate spiritual sequel, RPG, Dragon Age Origins.. we’ve just got thrown 6 videos presenting each of the possible starting choices/Origins storylines: The Noble Dwarf, The Nobel Human, The Common Dwarf, The Mage, The Dalish Elf and the City Elf. Each of them having their own motivations and deeply-threaded storyline.

Personally i’d play the City Elf. Just the fact that it’s a chick that was against the wall and decided to fight back. Just seems to appeal to me more then a Dwarf mugger gone gladiator or a Mage love-story. Still, we’ll see when the game comes out. I’m really excited about it.

Torchlight launch date set to October 27th.

Runic’s Torchlight has gotten a release date, and it’s closer then we might think.. October 27th. It’s a smart thing too, since there are no real hack’n’slash action RPGs planned for this autumn. Well.. that’s if that Diablo 3 rumor that it’s close to completion and coming out by the end of 2009 is false.
