Review – Risen

by Cosmo on Oct.24, 2009, under Game Reviews

Did you ever want to just sit down at your computer, start a game, put on your headphones and just have a consistent and satisfying gaming session? The kind that sucks you in, that has you looking out the window in the morning, see the sunrise and wondering where the night went?  I do.. and sadly, few games nowadays have what it takes to do that to me. Blog – Risen has risen.

by Cosmo on Sep.30, 2009, under Cosmo's Blog

I didn’t get caught up in the hype around Risen much, and you can imagine that when i tried it a few hours ago, i went in with little in terms of expectations. Pirahna Byte’s previous project, Gothic 3, left me quite uneasy and holding a very broken and unpolished game. Instead, we now have Risen, the spiritual successor of the Gothic series, taken in a similar setting, but with a different style. The game is very much reminiscent of our 2001/2003 favorite RPG, with familiar controls, dialogue system and general gameplay, but really touched up and having all the elements sprinkled nicely around making this a delicious treat. I’m not meaning to make this a review, but i’ll just say that i’m quite impressed and hoping to get many hours of fun out of it.
